The Australian Timber Design Workshop is for anyone who loves to design and build in timber and would like to increase their knowledge and skill. Presented by staff of the University of Tasmania, invited architectural and engineering professionals and industry practitioners from around Australia, this workshop is structured in two streams to cater for architects, engineers, builders, students and the general public.
Administered by the Timber Research Unit, a useful site for architects, engineers and builders. Includes valuable resources in areas such as projects, technical support, environment, education and research.
Buildings are a major source of environmental impacts. In response to this, the Building Code of Australia (BCA) now includes a Performance Objective for residential buildings of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by using energy efficiently. The No Bills House and Best Five Star Houses Project is to test the accuracy of the methods being used to determine 'energy efficiency' and to demonstrate high thermal performance timber construction.
