Timber Talks Episode 16: Wood Masterclass

Timber Talks Episode 16: Wood Masterclass

Timber and wood products are intrinsically different to all other products we use for building. Associate Professor Greg Nolan, of the University of Tasmania, provides fascinating insight into the significance of timber’s unique characteristics for the construction industry, as well as advice for getting the best out of this sustainable material.

Greg Nolan is an associate professor at the University of Tasmania's School of Architecture and Design, and the director of the University's Centre for Sustainable Architecture with Wood.

He has been involved with research and development aimed at improving the use of wood and timber products in sustainable building, and maximising the recovery of wood products from available resources.

This episode explores the material in WoodSolutions’ Technical Guide #46 Wood Construction Systems and covers the material characteristics of timber products, designing for durability and the conceptual design process for timber buildings.
