National Curriculum drives new ForestLearning website

National Curriculum drives new ForestLearning website

In response to the introduction of the National Curriculum across all states, schools, year levels and subjects, www.forestlearning.edu.au has launched a new website. The new site features the capacity to search all material using the new national curriculum code.

Only educational materials complying with the national curriculum will be uploaded. Additionally, all future materials will need to comply to a proforma that aligns with the National Curriculum and be compatible with the education site, Scootle.

Along with the new site, two new year 4 and years 7 and 8 science Units of Inquiry, featuring the life cycle of forestry, have been developed. These Units of Inquiry are eight weeklong lessons designed to develop investigative skills specifically looking at the life cycle of wood and timber products.

The members of the Australian Forest Education Alliance provided excellent guidance, support and feedback on the direction of the site and future development of forest specific educational materials.
